From October 7-11, 2024, NOVA Lisbon proudly hosted the second Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) of the Erasmus+ project “Living Labs for the Students of the Future” (LLSF). This dynamic five-day hybrid event, titled “Students Winter School and Living Labs for the Industry: Skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” successfully brought together students, academics, and industry leaders from various technological fields.

Participants engaged in enriching workshops and cutting-edge sessions designed to enhance skills vital for the evolving demands of Industry 4.0. The event emphasized interactive collaboration, leveraging the collective expertise of academia and industry to nurture practical and theoretical knowledge.

Key Highlights from the Week:

Day 1: Audio Technologies and RoboticsParticipants explored advanced audio processing techniques with Prof. Stefania Cecchi and Dr. Alessandro Terenzi (UnivPM, Online). Concurrently, attendees at NOVA Lisbon experienced hands-on robotic experiments facilitated by Prof. André Rocha.

Day 2: Innovative Projects and IoT SolutionsCutting-edge projects were showcased, including COMMUNITAS, Smartbear, XpanDH, DS4HEALTH, and FITTER-EU. Prof. Agustin Caminero (UNED) further enriched the day with insights into cloud management of IoT fleets.

Day 3: AI Integration and Advanced Data AcquisitionThe spotlight turned to artificial intelligence and data acquisition solutions presented by leading projects such as AIDEAS, AgileHand, AI-DAPT, CYBERSECPRO, YachaY, and EPAI. Prof. Llanos Tobarra (UNED) provided additional context with methodologies for integrating AI in IoT applications.

Day 4: Promoting Reproducible ResearchProf. Radu-Ioan Ciobanu (UPB, Online) delivered insights into reproducible research practices, complemented by demonstrations of virtual labs and innovative liquid instruments by Joao Sarraipa and Susanna Spinsante.

Day 5: Collaboration and SynergiesThe event concluded with dedicated sessions fostering collaboration between key European projects, including SmartBear, XPandH, AIDEAS, AgileHand, SI-DAPT, FITTER-EU, xShare, COMMUNITAS, and Herit4Ages. These discussions highlighted the potential for cooperative innovation and technological synergy.

This LTTA event affirmed the importance of cultivating robust partnerships between academia and industry, paving the way for future advancements and preparing students to be the innovative leaders of tomorrow.
