July 16, 2024 – Madrid, Spain – The “Living Labs for the Students of the Future” (LLSF) project partners convened in Madrid on July 16, 2024, for their 5th Transnational Project Meeting, focusing on the development of integrated toolkits for the project’s dashboard and the planning of upcoming project events.

Dashboard Toolkits and Remote Access Capabilities

NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA) presented updates on the development of essential toolkits for the project’s dashboard, including those for security mechanisms, reservation systems, and safety protocols. Key toolkits identified for integration include those for communication, livestreaming, data management, controlling, and remote access, tailored to different dashboard interfaces.

Discussions centered on the hardware limitations for simultaneous access, with the partners agreeing that a practical approach involves one user conducting the experiment while others observe remotely. NOVA highlighted the successful implementation of the LED Smart Lab at Uninova, which allows students to remotely access and utilize IoT technology within their coursework.

Tel Aviv University (TAU) presented the dashboard’s progress and shared the results of a recent questionnaire, providing valuable insights for further development.

Course Integration and Platform Accessibility

The National University of Distance Education (UNED) inquired about the identified courses to be integrated into the platform. The University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) provided updates on the “Zero to JupyterHub” initiative and proposed the inclusion of courses on big data and numerical methods. They also noted the limitations of Moodle in terms of inclusivity.

TAU presented the catalogue developed for the Moodle interface. UNED detailed the methodological toolkit for platform integration.

Future Events and Dissemination Planning

The partners finalized the schedule for upcoming project events:

  • Lisbon Training Event: September 23-27, 2024.
  • Dissemination Event: NOVA will host a hybrid event, with physical presence from Uninova and a virtual connection link for remote participants.
  • Bucharest Event: The Bucharest event has been rescheduled to January 13-17, 2025.

Key Discussions:

  • Integration of security and remote access toolkits into the LLSF Dashboard.
  • Hardware Limitations and remote access solutions.
  • Course integration and Moodle interface improvements.
  • Planning for upcoming training and dissemination events.

The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap for the project’s next phases, emphasizing the development of a robust and accessible platform for future students.
